ASV rehab centres Melbourne - Rehab at Home
‘Some people hope getting a few weeks away from the Drugs or Alcohol in detox or residential rehab treatment program will be a magic fix. I wish it were that easy. Addiction for most people has become an ingrained pattern of using, thinking and behaving and they need effective, evidence-based rehabilitation, follow-up and support to really cement positive changes in place. Effective aftercare support and relapse prevention planning is a critical part of the recovery process". - Jason Bowman - Addiction Solutions Victoria (ASV) CEO - Melbourne - 2019
The ASV Rehab at Home Drug and Alcohol rehab treatment approach is based on the Living in Balance program developed by Danya International and distributed by Hazelden (USA). It has been soundly evaluated, is endorsed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and is listed in the US registry of evidence-based programs and practices (NREPP).
Whilst people may have been using Alcohol and/or other drugs for years, it’s surprising how little they (or their loved ones) may know about addiction and sustainable recovery from addiction.
’The Oxford dictionary definition of rehabilitation:
"The action of restoring someone to health or normal life through training and therapy after imprisonment, addiction, or illness."
Most people when they think of rehab or addiction treatment think of residential inpatient Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation programs. At ASV, we understand that residential rehab programs are not for everyone. We offer affordable, evidenced-based Drug, Alcohol and other Drug rehabilitation & recovery support options delivered in the privacy and safety of people’s own homes. These addiction treatment packages provide people seeking support to substance misuse or Drug and Alcohol addiction access to qualified, experienced staff and soundly evaluated approaches.
The path to addiction treatment isn’t a straight line, and the process for each person is as unique as the people we are helping. As you move down the path for recovery, there can be confusion, struggle, and even steps backward. ASV aims to support each person to find the information and assistance that they need as they work their way toward healing.
Overcoming an addiction, either to drugs, alcohol, prescription, food, gambling, sex, etc. – is not about willpower, focus, desire or anything of the sort.
Treating addiction and alcoholism and the associated dual diagnosis challenges require evidenced-based support strategies delivered by qualified and experienced staff.
Substance use, alcoholism, mental health & dual-diagnosis disorders are complex issues that affect your brain and its ability to function. Just as you would not consider fighting a life-threatening disease without professional help, so too is the same for addictions and mental health disorders (dual-diagnosis or co-occurring disorders).
No matter what anyone says, or how good your intentions are, this struggle is real and it is a difficult one to overcome. Recovery from addiction or alcoholism requires commitment and tenacity. Long term recovery success, or complete withdrawal from the substance or activity that is the root cause of your addiction, is a battle that can be won with the proper course of treatment, structure and support system. Sure, some people can kick the habit on their own, but few and far between are those who enjoy lasting sober success or who aren’t conflicted regularly by the demons of their past and temptations of their environment.
