5 months ago my dear son transitioned overnight from utter despair, self sabotage and self loathing (due to a 3 year Ice addiction following a 10 year grip of heroin) to a new life of fresh prospect, hope, health and enthusiasm through a 'sober' life. Most importantly, it was Jason Bowman of Addictions Solutions Victoria, with his professional, personal and unique take on addiction recovery, who mentored my son to turn his life around. In short…a brilliant metamorphosis!
Jason worked one on one with him daily, through his rehab at home outpatient rehab Melbourne, a non-residential rehabilitation/recovery program, that uplifts, guides and coaches, without the usual parameters of rehabs, and which suited my son who was probably 'rehabbed out' - although having gained a good template from those experiences too.
32 now, with self-esteem, confidence and self awareness growing every day, my son is working, moving into an independent lifestyle for the first time and is looking forward to pursue his music dreams again. This, along with all other dreams, relationships along with his sense of self were crushed last year after the loss of a dear friend, while both in rehab, a concurrent robbery and his resulting eviction due to two previous relapses and he returned to the family home eventually, completely broken, which eventually almost broke me too.....and then, happily, along came Jason.
My son is now 'dedicated', as he said emphatically the other day, to the A.S.V program, the 12 Steps lifestyle, philosophy and fellowship and the all-so-important social connectedness that he avoided for so long. I know now he values himself from the core and his higher power, but most of all - he is comfortable in becoming his real self. And this from a mother's perspective, no matter what the age, is a gift like no other.
I personally thank you Jason for your dedication and belief in my son and his new life turn-around.
"Stopping the addiction is only the beginning of the process for most people who access treatment, when they develop a more genuine understanding of the nature of addiction, this provides them the opportunity to look at the problem through a different lense, dramatically increasing the possibilities of a sustainable solution (recovery)". - Jase Bowman - ASV CEO - Outpatient Rehab Melbourne|2020.
