My name is Jason Bowman and I am the CEO at Addiction Solutions Victoria (ASV). Today I wanted to share a brief history of where ASV came from, and why. Along the journey we have received incredible support from many individuals, families, professionals, community services and corporate entities, each passionate about developing a service specifically created to meet the needs of people and families impacted in a negative way by an addiction to drugs or alcohol.
Addiction Solutions Victoria (ASV) was formed to meet an identified gap in the Victorian Alcohol and Other Drug and Mental Health Service systems. The gap was pointed out to an ASV focus group consisting of key founding members of the initial board of directors. A decision was made to establish a community service registered incorporated association to specifically target this gap in the market and provide any person impacted by an addiction to drugs and / or alcohol access to affordable, evidenced based addiction treatment and rehabilitation programs.
In 2017 ASV began delivering the Living in Balance (Hazelden USA) program in the homes of people across Melbourne. Since that time the ASV Rehab at Home program has assisted many people to access treatment and provided all program participants a genuine opportunity at achieving sustainable positive change and recovery.
The ASV Family Solutions Program was created to provide the loved ones of people impacted by addiction access to evidenced based practical and emotional support. The family support program is based on the AFINET family support process and is delivered by Angela Ireland, a highly skilled and experienced family therapist with many years of experience assisting families and loved ones challenged by addiction.
"The ASV Rehab at Home program provides evidenced based drug treatment and alcohol rehab options across Melbourne, Victoria. Developed to meet an identified need within the Victorian community, our support programs provide any person, including the families of addicts, with genuine opportunities at positive change (recovery)." - Jase Bowman - ASV CEO - Drug Rehabilitation Services - Melbourne 2020.
